There was a boy who took care of his sheep near a dark forest. It was a lonely job. To amuse himself, he thought of a trick. He ran toward the village shouting, "Wolf! Wolf! A wolf is attacking the sheep!

The villagers came running with their tools to help. But when they arrived, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at their worried faces. The villagers were angry but went back home.

A few days later, the boy felt bored again. He played the same trick. "Wolf! Wolf! Help!" he cried. Again, the kind villagers rushed to help him. Again, they found no wolf. They scolded the boy sharply.

Soon after, a real wolf did come from the forest. It jumped into the flock of sheep. The boy was terrified. He screamed as loud as he could, "Wolf! Wolf! Please, help me! The wolf is here!

This time, the villagers heard his cries but did not run. They thought, "He is trying to fool us again. He won't get our help this time." So, nobody came.

The wolf killed many of the boy's sheep. The boy learned a hard lesson. If you tell lies, even when you tell the truth, no one will believe you anymore.
