My hobby is reading. It is a simple activity, but it brings me immense joy and quiet satisfaction. Unlike many hobbies that require special equipment or a specific location, reading only needs a book and a comfortable corner. I can dive into a story or learn something new anytime, anywhere.
I enjoy reading different kinds of books. Fiction is my favorite escape. When I open a novel, I step into another world. I can be a detective solving a mystery in London, a wizard learning magic at a school called Hogwarts, or a traveler exploring distant galaxies. The characters become my friends, and their adventures feel real to me. I laugh with them, worry for them, and sometimes cry for them. These stories make my own world feel bigger and more colorful.
I also read non-fiction. Biographies tell me about the lives of great people, their struggles and triumphs. Science books explain how the universe works, from tiny atoms to giant stars. History books are like time machines, taking me back to see how people lived long ago. Through these books, I gain knowledge and understanding without ever leaving my room.
My reading habit started when I was very young. My parents would read picture books to me before bed. The colorful illustrations and exciting tales sparked my imagination. As I grew older, I began to read on my own. At first, it was challenging, but soon, recognizing words and following sentences became easy and fun. Now, I always have a book with me. I read during breaks at school, on bus rides, and for at least half an hour before I go to sleep.
Reading is more than just fun for me. It helps me in many ways. It improves my vocabulary and language skills, which is useful for all my school subjects. More importantly, it teaches me about life. Stories show me different perspectives and help me understand people better. They teach me about courage, kindness, and resilience. When I face a problem, I often think about how my favorite characters would handle it.
Some people might think reading is a lonely hobby, but I don't feel alone when I read. I am having a conversation with the author and sharing experiences with the characters. Sometimes, I talk about books with my friends or family. Recommending a good book to someone and hearing their thoughts on it is a great pleasure.
In a world full of noisy videos and fast games, reading provides a peaceful retreat. It slows down my mind and allows me to focus. The feeling of turning a page, the smell of paper, and the quiet concentration are parts of the experience I truly love. My hobby of reading is a lifelong friend, always ready to offer adventure, knowledge, and comfort. It is a small part of my daily routine that makes a big difference in my life.
