In a sunny garden, there lived a tiny seed named Sammy. Sammy was brown and round, sleeping deep in the soft soil. One morning, a warm drop of water went plip! on his head. “Wake up, Sammy!” whispered the water. “It’s time to grow!”
Sammy was sleepy. “Grow? How?” he asked. “Just try!” cheered the water. Sammy took a deep breath and pushed one small, green tip out into the dirt. It was hard work! “I can’t do it,” he sighed. Just then, he heard a friendly voice. “Hello! Need help?” It was Rosie the Raindrop. Plip, plop, splash! Rosie tickled the soil, making it soft. “Now push!” she said.
Sammy pushed again. This time, his little shoot moved up, up, through the soil until… Pop! He saw the sun! “Wow!” Sammy blinked. The world was bright and beautiful. A little girl named Lily saw him. “Hello, little plant!” she said. She gave him water every day.
Sammy grew taller. He grew two green leaves, then two more. One day, he felt a funny lump on his side. It grew into a big, yellow circle. Sammy had a sunflower! Bees came to sing, “Buzz! Hello, Sunny Sammy!” The sunflower smiled at the sky. He was so happy.
Lily took a picture with Sammy. “You had a big dream, and you grew so strong!” she said. Sammy danced in the breeze. He learned that even a tiny seed can do a big thing if it tries hard and has friends to help. And every morning, he smiled his brightest yellow smile at the sun.
