Today was our school’s community service day. I joined the "Green Campus" team with my best friend, Li Hua. Our task was simple but meaningful: picking up litter around the school and the nearby park.
We started at 9 a.m., wearing gloves and holding trash bags. At first, I thought it would be boring. But when we began, it became like a treasure hunt! We found candy wrappers, plastic bottles, and even a lost key under a bench. Li Hua joked, "Maybe we’ll find a secret map!" We laughed and worked faster.
Around noon, an old lady walking her dog smiled at us and said, "Good job, kids! Thank you for keeping our park clean." Her words made me feel warm inside. I realized that even a small act like picking up trash can make a difference.
After two hours, we filled three big bags. Our teacher, Ms. Chen, praised our team for being the most efficient. My back hurt a little, but I felt proud.
This experience taught me that helping others doesn’t have to be hard. Small actions matter. I’ll try to do more volunteer work in the future.
