My holiday this summer was truly special, as our family decided to trade our usual city routines for the sun-kissed beaches of Hainan. We flew directly to Sanya, and the moment I stepped off the plane, the warm, humid air and the faint smell of the sea told me an adventure was about to begin.

We stayed in a small hotel just a short walk from the beach. Every morning, I woke up to the sound of waves crashing. My favorite activity was building elaborate sandcastles with my little sister, though the tides always reclaimed our creations by afternoon. My dad taught me how to bodyboard, and after many tumbles, I finally managed to ride a wave all the way to the shore. The feeling was pure excitement. One day, we visited a tropical fruit farm where I tasted fruits I had never seen before, like spiky rambutan and sweet dragon fruit.

The most memorable part was our trip to the local fishing village. It was so different from the touristy areas. We saw colorful boats bobbing on the water and fishermen mending their nets. A friendly fisherman even let me hold a small, wriggling fish he had just caught. It made me think about how people’s lives here are deeply connected to the ocean.

Evenings were peaceful. After dinner, we would stroll along the shore, collecting pretty shells as souvenirs. The sunsets were incredible, painting the sky in shades of orange, pink, and purple, reflecting on the water like a moving painting.

This holiday wasn’t just about fun; it gave me a real sense of a different way of life. I learned more about the ocean and appreciated the simple beauty of nature. The sound of the waves, the taste of fresh coconut, and the feeling of warm sand under my feet are memories I will keep long after the holiday tan fades. It was a perfect break, and I already can’t wait for the next time I can feel that seaside breeze again.
