Reading in English can feel tough at first. You see many new words and long sentences. Don't worry! Start with short, easy texts. Graded readers are great for this. They are books written for learners. Pick one that's a little challenging but not too hard.

First, skim the text. Look at the title, pictures, and headings. Guess what the text is about. This helps your brain get ready. Then, read quickly for the main idea. Don't stop for every new word. Try to understand the general meaning.

Next, read carefully. Underline or circle words you don't know. But don't look them up right away! Try to guess their meaning from the sentence. This is an important skill. For example, "The culinary arts student learned to cook." You can guess "culinary" means "related to cooking" from the words "cook" and "arts.

After guessing, use a dictionary to check. Write down three new words in a notebook every day. Write the word, its meaning, and an example sentence. Review your notebook often. This helps you remember.

Practice every day. Even 15 minutes helps. Read what you enjoy – news, stories, or science articles. The more you read, the faster and better you'll become. Remember, understanding the main idea is more important than knowing every single word. Be patient with yourself. Your skills will grow step by step. Happy reading
