October 23, Friday, Cloudy to Rainy

It’s been a long week, and today finally brought some quiet. The sky turned dark grey after lunch, and by the third period, rain started tapping on the classroom window. The sound was so steady and calming, like a soft drumbeat accompanying our physics teacher’s voice. For a moment, I just stared at the droplets racing each other down the glass, my mind wandering away from formulas and equations.

After school, I didn’t rush to the bus stop. Instead, I walked slowly under my umbrella. The campus looked different in the rain—the colors of the autumn leaves seemed deeper, and the air smelled clean, like wet earth and grass. I saw a few juniors playing basketball in the drizzle, laughing and slipping on the wet court. It reminded me of myself last year, carefree and full of energy. Now, with the college entrance exam getting closer, every day feels heavier. But this rainy walk somehow lightened the load.

At home, I made a cup of hot tea and finished my math homework. The rain kept falling, a gentle background noise that made my small room feel cozy. Mom came in later with some sliced fruit and just patted my shoulder. No words needed. Sometimes, the quietest moments are the ones that speak the loudest.

I guess this is what senior year is about—finding little pockets of peace between all the studying and pressure. Today was one of those pockets. The rain washed away the dust and my tiredness. Tomorrow, the books and reviews will be waiting again, but that’s okay. For now, I’m just glad for this rainy afternoon.
